Long post is long

I've hardly read a thing since early June. Haven't finished a single book, actually, which is kind of depressing. My current subway read is Rosemary and Rue by seanan_mcguire, which is perfect right now because I find it so engrossing that I can just pick it up anywhere and remember exactly what's happened and what's going on. I really enjoy the world-building, ( Read more... )

I had the HTC Hero before I switched to my iPhone. It is the original for a reason, I think.

That said, the Android-run HTC phones are for the most part excellent. Just make sure whatever Android phone you get is running at least version 2.0, since they have been a bit on the slow side to release updates to already established devices.

The Legend runs the 2.1 (I've been doing my homework on this, actually =), so we're good on that front.

I don't know what it is about iProducts that just rub me the wrong way, but I've yet to use one that I like (granted, I haven't used any in a long while now since it seemed foolish to continue on a fruitless quest).

I have an iMac, which I really cannot even consider trading for any PC. Ever. It's not about elitism, like some would say, but I just appreciate the aesthetics, from design to interface. There's something to be said for that.

I bought the iPhone back when it first came out, then dropped it and went to Blackberry, followed by HTC and back to iPhone. Entirely cyclical, and just further proof that I should have stayed with it from the beginning =)

Regarding Boys Over Flowers I remember most people quit (including myself) after episode 14 or 15, no actually I think i quit at 13 it's hard to say it was a while ago. but that was the range when the show went from kind of silly light hearted fun into complete ridiculous soap opera mode. and the hero started to resemble the hero of the source material (hana yori dango manga) less and less. I think the most egregious change for me though was what a wet dishrag Jan Di became, and the appeal of the heroine for me and for alot of other people who are fans of this story was how tough, independent and resilient she was (in every other adaptation the heroine was tough and awesome, I say that even as someone who had loads of problems with the tw adaptation Meteor Garden and the original manga ( ... )

Ah, okay, so I still have a few episodes to go until the fail begins? I figured that might be the case since I just wasn't getting what the fail was.

REALLY discouraging to hear that Jan Di becomes such weak and crappy character, Makino Tsukushi is one of the strongest points of Hana Yori Dango.

I was really surprised to see pre-fabricated pasta too! But then they were making pasta later on, so there was that too. I guess I'm just not looking for kitchen authenticity when it comes to kitchen dramas, but I know exactly how it feels to be taken out of stories because they're factually wrong.

hey. I don't really know anything about the htc legend, but I do have and iphone so I'll put my 2 cents in.

I am a long time mac user and an big fan of the Iproducts sort of generally. I love my iphone, but there are some serious drawbacks to it you should consider before getting one. The biggest by far is that the only one who carries service for the iphone currently is AT&T. And AT&T are overpriced jerks. I find their coverage to be really inconsistant and actually kind of crappy in a lot of places. They have changed their rates to tiered data service, which makes using the iphone or other smart phones kind of pricy. And they make you sign like a two year contract. Its all kind of crap if you ask me- unless of course you already use AT&T and like it. The caveat is: it has been announced that starting next summer Iphone is going to start working with different carriers like Verizon and TMobile ( ... )

I'm not in the US, so AT&T is the least of my problems. My biggest problem is actually that I'm NOT a big fan of iProducts. I've never gotten the impression that they're terribly well made, and while they have brand name cachet, most of the time I only hear people mention the brand because they've been forced to replace theirs because of one bug or another. Granted, they seem to be willing to replace the products at the drop of a hat, which is a point in their favor, but I prefer products that don't need to be fixed every couple of months.

Duh, sorry, of course you won't have to us AT&T. Sorry to waste your time with a dietribe that isn't useful ( ... )

What I really wanted from the poll was someone telling me something about the iPhone that I didn't know and would be able to sway me. Instead, I'm becoming more and more certain that the Legend is the way to go since the only people voting for iPhones seem to do so because they use it, not because they've used both and find the iPhone to be a superior product. And the commenter below has listed a number of reasons why Android products are that much better, starting with MORE FREE APPS. Open-sourced rules!

As an employee of a wireless carrier: OMG STAY AWAY FROM THE IPHONE. Don't be lured in by people who love it, the thing is garbage.

Plus, Andriod phones are way more fun, more applications are free, they're most customizable and they're not iPhones.

VINDICATION! That is how this comment makes me feel. *g*

Oh, and more free applications is a big reason why open-sourced works so much better for me.

I have had an iPod touch (that's broken, obv.) and three different Android devices (perks of working for the carrier.) And I have never once tried to find something in the android market that I couldn't find, and find for free at that.

Meanwhile *everything* I every thought looked cool in the iTunes store is a trial version with a paid "full featured" game/app/program/whatever.

And that's ignoring the hardware/software issues, Apple's complete asshattery about their products and my general hatred for iPhones because they turn people into INSANE CREATURES who froth at the mouth and scream and yell when they can't have one.

It blows my mind.

...and yeah, my work bias is showing. But that aside, I just *love* the andriod platform and there's so much to DO with it. And yeah, you can get caught in fragmentation (My Magic is stuck with 1.6 atm ugh) but its hardly the iPhone where as soon as a new version launches anything that ever comes out isn't supported by an older model.

Obviously! Because the most common reason for people to mention their iProducts is that it's broken. AGAIN.

Just the words "iTunes store" makes my skin crawl. If I never have to install iTunes on my computer ever again I'll be a much happier person.

I've always liked HTCs, and the more I read about them, the more I like them. However, if I were buying a product solely for video watching use, I'd probably go for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Have you seen it? It's HUUUUGE. Which is great for video watching (as is the 16:9 aspect ratio), but I doubt I could ever use it one-handed - and that includes just talking on the phone! Seriously, I cannot hold that phone comfortably to save my life.

My boyfriend has a HTC Legend and I have an iPhone GS3. He regrets it on a daily basis when he sees what my phone can do. The iPhone is more advanced and more userfriendly. The iPhone 4 sucks I heard.

Okay, so what exactly is it that your phone can do that his can't? I have not heard anything that has convinced me that the iPhone is the way to go, but your comment probably comes closest. Just lacking in specifics, that's all. =)

The userinterface of the HTC is just not as friendly as the iPhone. The use of the iPhone is more logical and less complex which makes going through the functionalities of the phone a lot easier and faster. My boyfriend says the apps for the iPhone are more fun and there's more the chose from.
I find his phone difficult to go fast to apps and such. Also, the apps on his HTC crash sometimes and on my iPhone they never have. That's about it I guess. And what's important to me: I think the iPhone looks nicer but that's a personal thing.

Okay, all those things sound good, but I don't think they're good enough to a) overcome my antipathy towards iProducts in general, b) overcome my inherent cheapness (i.e. more free apps as opposed to ones you have to buy), c) overcome the fact that I prefer the design of the Legend. (I think the iPhone looks plastic and cheap, actually, the Legend looks like it's been engineered.)
