Yes, this is a true story.
It was the third grade and like every other third grade class since the beginnings of time, we were studying local history. Our then home had a rich history, soaked in frontier trading, flushed in the Civil War, and with dashes of saucy tales. Most of what we learned that year concerned our cities history with trading.
