ERIK/CHARLES-HONEY, THEY TOOK THE KIDS gogothgirl June 27 2011, 19:48:05 UTC
Guys, hear me out. there's a lot of amazingly awesome fics about how Erik and Charles re-conciliating/come to an agreement/stay together/generally be happy together/get some closure when Charles is kidnapped post-movie. and there's a truck load of UNFFFF level of kidnapped!Charles fics where Erik goes on an epic warpath and paints the world in blood to get Charles back. so my prompt, lads and laddies, is this ( ... )

I know someone else is filling this - sorry to tread on toes! But I could not resist the lure of a great prompt!

“Charles.”

It gives him a shock to be addressed by his name here and he feels a flare of irritation that someone managed to approach him without his sensing them. When he turns and sees Moira MacTaggert a throb of guilt joins in with the other emotions. He really hadn’t wanted to alter her memories but his hand had been forced to protect the children. The regret for that gentles his voice as he replies. “Moira! It’s very good to see you again. What are you doing her at the hospital? Not ill I hope?”

There’s no need to mention why he is there. The ebony cane he’s leaning on is answer enough - there are such things as check ups, consultations, physiotherapy, and it could have been worse than the constant ache nerve damage in his right leg. The doctors tell him if the bullet had struck even slightly differently…

He shakes off morbid thoughts of what might have been and gives Moira a smile. Asks again “What does bring you ( ... )

Charles is already reaching forward with his mind as the car turns into the road up to the house. Reaching desperately for a sign that Moira had been wrong and that his students were safe and sound; for the hot, static feel of Alex practicing his aim in the bunker, for sight of Sean singing high and free up in the air above the trees, for the bright, busy mind of Hank in his lab. But there’s nothing. The house is as empty and echoing as an abandoned shell, with not even a whisper of life anywhere ( ... )

He tells Moira to stay put, snaps at her to sit down and he probably put too much force into the order because she collapses down onto the cold tile floor right where she was standing but he can’t spare any part of his mind to worry about that now. He makes his way quickly to where Hank has started rebuilding Cerebro. If he can get it working - if he can do that then he can find them and get them back, he can find who has them and make them sorry the thought of hurting Charles Xavier’s family ever crossed their minds.

If he leaves them enough mind left to be sorry withBut it’s no use. He can tell as soon as he gets to the cellar they’ve been using for the new build. He’s been over the plans for the advanced prototype with Hank and knows how it will work and he can see that although the electronics are in place the conducting metal shell that will amplify his brain waves is nowhere near finished enough to connect up to. His mind will be of no use here ( ... )

Hey! Glad you’re liking it, petal. More up soon I promise! :)
Aaand, while I have your attention I’ll get your opinion if I may. See, I’ve got the rest of the story mapped out (2,500wrds of *planning* - I'm fucking *insane*) but there’s 2 ways it could go at the end. So I offer you a ‘choose your own adventure’ moment! Would you rather:
a) After rescue etc Erik & Charles go their separate ways again. Perhaps with a little more understanding of each other but basically the same ‘Mom and Dad Don’t Live Together Anymore’ situation? Or
b) Team!Papa Bear realise they’re in love, Erik comes home again and there is a merging of our two households?

I’m sure you’re too highly principled for this to sway you at *all* but option B also has the bonus sub-option of a possible sexy epilogue. Might manage an angsty goodbye kiss in A but I think that’d be all.

A-ha! You picked the option I really wanted! My amazingly subtle plan of porn!bribes worked… ;)
(There will indeed be talky-negotiation bits to get to some common ground. The shine has definitely been taken off the apple for Charles re humans but Erik needs to back down a bit from his ‘They are all bugs under my Chelsea-heeled boots and have to die’ approach.)

Oh you and your bribes ruin me. But as my friends say, "what's there to ruin?". Yes, I love my friends even if sometimes the thought of murder sometimes come and go. Aaaaanyway. I'll look forward to the negotiations :) those always fascinates me, the way authors write those bits. Sometimes I think that everyone here are or were debate junkies at somepoint of their lives XD

and your description of Erik's boots made me laughed for some reason.

Raven is on a balcony in San Juan when it happens. She’s leaning over and watching the people in the street market below and enjoying the sun on her face when a voice hammers down on her like a blow and drives her to her knees.

//RAVEN! You have to help me, Raven//

She listens in growing horror to Charles voice in her mind and then scrambles up and runs back into the house they’re occupying, shouting for Magneto.

When she burst into the main living area he was already on his feet, and Riptide and Angel were hurrying through the door on the other side of the room. Raven threw herself at Magneto and started gabbling, her words tripping over themselves in her hurry. “The mansion! We have to - they took them - we’ve got to help. Charles, its Charles - oh god, he’s so angry!”

“What?!” Magneto had grabbed her arms to steady her and at the mention of Charles’ name his grip on her wrist tightens so much that she nearly cries out. “What are you talking about, Mystique? Who was taken? What’s the matter with Charles ( ... )

It’s hard to even find the words she needs, let alone say them. Raven’s always known that Charles had incredible power inside that floppy-haired, tatty-cardigan exterior of his, and she knows first hand the intense loyalty he shows to those he considers to be his; a devotion so insistent that once she was old enough to understand it would have scared her if she hadn’t known to her bones he was family. She meets Emma’s eyes but its Magneto she’s really speaking to. He’s the one she has to convince. “When he was twelve he altered his own mother’s mind to make her think she had a daughter. He altered her entire world. And he kept that illusion up constantly until the day she died. To protect me he did that to his own mother. And now some strangers have taken the boys…?” she sucks in a breath “If you don’t think his reaction is something to be worried about you’re not thinking at all ( ... )
