FILL: Casus Belli 4b/?

It’s hard to even find the words she needs, let alone say them. Raven’s always known that Charles had incredible power inside that floppy-haired, tatty-cardigan exterior of his, and she knows first hand the intense loyalty he shows to those he considers to be his; a devotion so insistent that once she was old enough to understand it would have scared her if she hadn’t known to her bones he was family. She meets Emma’s eyes but its Magneto she’s really speaking to. He’s the one she has to convince. “When he was twelve he altered his own mother’s mind to make her think she had a daughter. He altered her entire world. And he kept that illusion up constantly until the day she died. To protect me he did that to his own mother. And now some strangers have taken the boys…?” she sucks in a breath “If you don’t think his reaction is something to be worried about you’re not thinking at all.”

She squeezes her eyes shut and tries to push her worry down. Tries to think clearly but her thoughts are full of images of the boys hurt and of Charles losing control and going up against some unknown enemy on his own and deep down under that, images of Charles lying in pain and of blood on golden sand and she went and left him like that, how could she do that? How could she…?

She opens her eyes and looks into Magne… No. Looks into Erik’s eyes and just says “Please.”

He looks back at her, face stony and blank and for a second’s worth of eternity she doesn’t know which way her world’s going to tip. Then, without looking away he says “Riptide. Go and get Azazel. We’re going… We’re going to the mansion.”

And perhaps it was just because the word was ringing so clearly in her own heart, but for a moment there Raven almost thought Erik had been about to say they were going ‘home’.

THIS CHAPTER. I LOVE IT. Another lover of BAMF!Charles here, hearing Raven tell that story about how badass 12yearold!Charles was. I want to hear/see more of these (because as much as i love emma, she's kinda a bitch, and i wanna see her put in her place). I don't think any of Magneto's group (other than raven) knows anywhere near the extent of Charles's power, and i can't wait for them to see it.

...Not even going to bother anon-ing, this is that awesome.

Thank you so much! I'm really pleased people are liking this one - I'm certainly having a lot of fun writing it :) Charles is going to carry on being a bit of a BAMF and I think the others have some surprises in store ;)

Shivers down my spine, okay? Shivers. I really like how you made Raven here when she's scared out of her mind. Goodness, she really IS scared isn't she? And daaaaamn why do I feel like Emma's gonna be the first victim? XD can't wait to see charles after this :3 and erik's little almost-slip was <3

Oh, I'm so happy you're enjoying it! It really was a brilliant prompt and I'm having far too much fun with it :D I even skipped a particle physics lecture to come home and write fanfic; what does that tell you?! (…possibly that I’m an even sadder geek than you may have suspected but lets move on from that, shall we?)
Glad you liked how Raven was written and as for Emma... well, there's a bit more of her in the part just up below. ;)
