Raven is on a balcony in San Juan when it happens. She’s leaning over and watching the people in the street market below and enjoying the sun on her face when a voice hammers down on her like a blow and drives her to her knees.
//RAVEN! You have to help me, Raven//
She listens in growing horror to Charles voice in her mind and then scrambles up and runs back into the house they’re occupying, shouting for Magneto.
When she burst into the main living area he was already on his feet, and Riptide and Angel were hurrying through the door on the other side of the room. Raven threw herself at Magneto and started gabbling, her words tripping over themselves in her hurry. “The mansion! We have to - they took them - we’ve got to help. Charles, its Charles - oh god, he’s so angry!”
“What?!” Magneto had grabbed her arms to steady her and at the mention of Charles’ name his grip on her wrist tightens so much that she nearly cries out. “What are you talking about, Mystique? Who was taken? What’s the matter with Charles?!”
She gasps out “The boys - Hank and Alex and Sean. Charles just contacted me and told me they’re missing!” He’s nearly grinding her bones together now and she can’t help wincing. “You’re hurting me.”
Magneto lets her go with a sharp, indrawn breath and his mouth works like its trying to find the shape it needs for an apology. But there are more important things to worry about now then a bruised wrist so she says quickly “Please. Please, we have to go and help him. He was away and when he got back they were gone - I couldn’t get all of the details because he was so worked up but we have to go!”
Everyone else in the room is standing now but Emma is still in her chair, legs crossed and pose relaxed. Her voice sounds bored and slightly mocking as she drawls “The kids probably went out on the town and he’s panicking over nothing. What does it matter if he’s a bit het up?”
She’s struggled to get on with Emma Frost since she joined the group and Raven doesn’t even try to hold back her anger now. “Shut up! You have no idea what you’re talking about!” she turns back to Magneto “Charles was so angry when he spoke to me. I - I really think he’ll do something extreme if we don’t help him.”
Emma actually laughs “Angry? Oh, my dear girl! Well, save us from the temper of short biology professors. That’s hardly something to be worried about.”
Raven stares at her, and the fact she can feel the fury burning off Magneto next to her doesn’t help. How can this woman be so stupid? “For a telepath you know nothing about other people, Emma. You don’t know what Charles is like or what he can do.” She adds quietly “None of you know what my brother’s capable of.”
