"Don't be silly. If you want apples, apples you get!" Emily nodded, holding up a Granny Smith. Az gave the Nurture Unit a half-shrug and continued to look around the produce section of the market. 'Grocery store,' Az remembered from the list DG had made.
Az and Emily had started at one end of the building and moved up and down the aisles, filling the cart with this and that. Az was also beginning to understand why DG was having such trouble sitting still in the Zone. Just since arriving on the Other Side, the elder princess had been inundated.

They were standing in the checkout line, Az watching the woman - Sheryl - run everything over a piece of glass and hearing a beep. As she began to zone out, a loud, deep voice made both women jump.
"Emily! Damnit!" Emily rolled her eyes at Sheryl as Az turned to see a man with a badge move toward them quickly.
"Hello, Elmer," Emily said dryly as she handed over some bills. Sheryl gave her a smile and finished the transaction.
Gulch huffed and puffed before Emily finally turned to him.
"Don't let 'em fool ya," Sheryl nodded. "He was worried sick."
