We had the annual day of American overeating at The House of Cats and (klutzy) Women here last week. And I don't think any of us overate, although several of us did overcook, as per usual.

Saturday Morning 6.30am

"Is that a dirty kitten or a really really big rat?" I ask pointing a few metres down the lane at a creature lapping up water from a puddle.

Trash moves toward it, and it startles and hurriedly slopes off toward Hello Kitty's house.

"Rat."

"Holy crap."

"Yeah."

We had a great Christmas Eve dinner with seriouspenguin, the Penguin Consort, oy_squad, and My Awesome Dad last night. We opened presents before dinner and everyone came away with at least one good surprise.
