Federer's won Basel for the third year in a row. Saw the highlight reel vs. Nalbandian, and it was really quite wonderful play from him. A number of backhand winners, one of them a crosscourt zinger. Great points from both players.

Well, the new meets the old in about 3.5 hours. I can hardly wait (although I'd probably be asleep by then). Hope Federer wins, although Murray must be in good form? Well, officially I'd say:

Olympics under way, and I've managed to catch some of the action on television. Gymnastics, badminton, swimming, synchronized diving... And I'm hoping to catch the women's team table tennis competition today. It's all quite spectacular. I'd hoped it'd be later rather than sooner, but with Federer's latest loss (in three sets to a certain Ivo Karlovic) in the third round of Cincinnati, the possibility of Nadal being #1 as early as next Monday has opened up. The press is beginning to wonder. I find the argument used in that article rather weak, actually (Federer's first-round form usually doesn't reflect his performance in later stages of a tournament), but find it hard to ignore the writer's main point.
