I am going to be the first to admit, it could have been much, much worse. I know of people who have had their laptops and back-ups stolen (do not keep your external hard drive in the same bag as your laptop). It was 6 pm this evening before our ISP worked out the problem they were having with the telecom company. At least it wasn't something on my end. But this is one of the hassles of living in a rural, mountainous state--technology doesn't reach into every corner.
