Last weekend I was in Oslo, Norway with a friend, and we went to the National Gallery. On the second story in Gallery/Room 28? there was a painting on the wall with the windows. It was this vibrant night time scene, with mountains and stars, sort of abstract. It reminded me of Van Gogh's Starry Night, except that it wasn't an Impressionist ( Read more... )

Heavy Metal Hawkmen?

I was just watching Family Guy: Road to Germany, and during the dogfight, Stewie magically summons an army of gold-clad semi-nordic "hawkmen", who proceed to kick the crap out of the Germans with LASER GUNS (?) to the accompaniment of old-style heavy metal music. Does anyone know what the heck these guys are and where they came from?
