Was way too much fun! This year I had the rare opportunity to both paticipate in and enjoy the convention.

The best part: I got to meet some people I've wanted to meet for years. Thom Carnell, co-creator of "Carpe Noctem" magazine and walking horror movie encyclopedia, is a sweet, funny, and very smart dude. I really enjoyed hanging out with him. ( Read more... )

Awhile back I saw the Diablo Cody movie "Jennifer's Body." It's about a gorgeous, demonically possessed teenage girl who rips the guts out of teenage boys and eats them. It's sharp, witty, and way, WAY more fun than a teenage cannibal movie ( Read more... )

I was pretty jazzed going into this flick. Sam Raimi had finally returned to horror! Yay! I tried to read as little about it as possible. All I knew was that some chick was trying not  to, um, get dragged to Hell.

Saw it tonight at a midnight showing at SIFF. What a kick in the pants! It’s the simple “besieged cabin in the middle of nowhere” setup. The young attractive victims are kinda-smug med students. I initially gave the Horrorfest flick “Dying Breed” three severed heads out of five. But to tell you the truth, it showed toward the end of Horrorfest, and I was exhausted.
