RE canon at DDD
RESIDENT EVIL AT DDD EXPLAINED
Now, as you can probably guess, this post is here to try and straighten out what's happened with regards to Resident Evil canon, since due to the nature of DDD, it's sort of gone WILDLY AU and fucked up all manner of things. If you're someone looking to app into the cast, you would not necessarily have to be part of this AU but I'm sure you'd like to be aware of it at least! I'm going to be taking it from the top - for me, at least.
PRE-RE5 CANON
- Wesker joins the community.
Members of the RE cast at this point included Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Leon Kennedy and Steve Burnside. (Steve having intro'd shortly before Wesker. ...Actually this was the first instance of AU stuff I guess, Steve being around at all!) Wesker intro'd under a pseudonym and used this for a brief time.
- Wesker lures Steve away.
So Wesker was annoyed that the good guys nabbed Steve SO HE NABS STEVE BACK.
- Wesker reveals himself to the community.
This leads to a confrontation between Chris and Wesker which has sadly been lost as Chris's journal, in which the RL took place, has been deleted. The conclusion was indecisive, but both Chris and Steve got away,
After this, there's some general bitching between Chris and Wesker, the usual kind of thing. Nothing significant takes place UNTIL
- William Birkin joins the community.
Wesker quickly arranges for Birkin to worldhop into the future and the two continue to work together. There's some stuff with Jack Frost but that isn't particularly relevant for my canon purposes here. And then...
- Chris and Jill set out to find Spencer.
And obviously here we have the setup leading into RE5 canon.
- Chris returns from Europe.
Obviously, Chris is still convinced that Jill's alive but dares to hope that Wesker is indeed dead. HOWEVER...
- Wesker lives. As usual.
And he's missing his sunglasses. BAW. Meanwhile, he and Birkin are conducting their experiments on Jill.
- Chris announces Jill's death.

RE5 CANON
- Chris leaves for Africa. Canon START!
...Yeah, what it says, basically. Sheva had also joined the community beforehand.
- HOLY SHIT WESKER'S ALIVE
Wesker makes his big return to the community.
- Jill is free of Wesker's control.
It's important to remember that due to the nature of DDD, canon moving got spread over a longer period than it should have done to allow for such posts.
- Excella's death.
A brief voice post from Wesker as the comm intercepts his speech on the ship.
- End game.
Some final bitching from Wesker as he refuses to believe that he could possibly lose.
- Drinks all around!
And one final post to round off RE5 canon from Chris, and the last post by that particular Chris o7
AFTERWARDS: Birkin is around to save Wesker - okay we kind of fudged all that part because I didn't want to drop Wesker, SUE ME. Wesker lays low for a while. Birkin also decides that it would be a GREAT idea to try and kidnap Trish (Devil May Cry) for ~experimentation~. Anyone who knows Trish can guess how well that ended...
POST-CANON/OR everything is now AU as all hell
- Wesker is revealed. Again.
And then Birkin had a broken nose.
At some point that I can't remember, Ada Wong joined the community. Wesker reembers Ada, all too well. And so he asks to have a word with her, lets her know what he thinks of double-crossers, and is generally a jerk to Ada and Leon. Oh, and then:
- The birth of Creeper Island.
Honestly, the only reason we did this? Because we could. And then it sort of became a staple of DDD for a year. Franken Stein and Tohru Adachi both end up on the island because Birkin has some sort of compulsive need to adopt all the creepy people AND THUS IT CAME TO BE KNOWN AS CREEPER ISLAND. Note that Adachi was not on the island for most of the following, only showing up there in January of the following year after getting out of jail. ...REGENE REGETTA GOT THERE IN APRIL WITH A TRUCKFUL OF GOODIES FOR EVERYONE and then proceeded to eat everyone's cakes.
A little while later, after there's all kinds of ridiculous virus shenanigans and Excella joins the community and is also worldhopped to the future, Wesker proposes a little day trip to Washington. ...And then this happens:
- Albert Wesker in the Oval Office. Leon Kennedy is in the front lines.
Long story short: there were outbreaks of T-virus in smallish towns over America to distract from Wesker's plans: namely to take over the White House. He was successful in this endeavour, however, the community is full of do-gooders and don't let him get away with it for long...
- The day is saved!
Yeah so people come in and kick Wesker out. It was never quite threaded out entirely, but...
- Fuck politics.
Wesker did manage to blow the White House up before leaving, because it's not Resident Evil unless something goes BOOM. Wesker is unimpressed by the official reaction.
- Wesker wants attention.
Yeah, he's so unimpressed that he feels it's necessary to make it CLEAR to the world that uh, yeah, he's around to stay, bitches.
- Wesker goes back to Spencer's mansion.
So what happened here was that we got the Lost in Nightmares DLC and discovered more about Wesker's past and this little post was to help us incorporate that into canon and so on.
OKAY UM MORE STUFF HAPPENS I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER IT WAS ALL AGES AGO and if others want to help me out here PLEASE DO OKAY there was shadow plot and viruses and all sorts of shit (also CNN) but I'm going to skip over all these to get to the pertinent stuff - that is:
- Annette Birkin joins the community.
Oh. Shit. Everything is marvellously awkward because Birkin's gotten over his wife and is being gay as a handbag full of rainbows with Stein... but he wants to keep that from Annette. Annette was apped as part of the AU: so, she was from the past, but from the past that William had been worldhopped out of. To her, it seemed as if William was missing.
- Also, Sherry!
SHE'S IN YO COMMS BEING ADORABLE
So Annette and Sherry are also moved to Creeper Island. Meanwhile, Regene has been comatose because of the Gundam 00 regression virus and afterwards remained that way because it was more convenient while he was revamping the security systems. This is important because of a certain nsfw thread. Long story short, Regene, while showing off the new security systems. Which include video footage. Of sexiness. That Annette sees. Oops. Birkin and Stein soon bugger off back to Soul Eater world with Sherry, leaving the following on Creeper Island: Wesker, Annette, Adachi and Regene.
Like that's gonna end well.
- Annette is starting to lose it.
In a big way. Wesker sees the opportunity to fuck with her head some. In essence, disliking the idea of that past Au where Umbrella's fine because Birkin never infected himself with G-virus, etc. and also being fed up with having to deal with Annette's moping, he plants the idea of going back in Annette's head. Of finishing things. And Annette's never one to do things by halves, you see -
- In quick succession, Annette asks for a worldhop, beats the shit out of Adachi, takes Birkin's place in the past, and comes to a very messy end.
...So yeah. Annette basically replaces William in the past that she originally came from. It's a very messy form of suicide.
- But Regene's on to Wesker.
Regene realises that Wesker was BEHIND EVERYTHING. However, his attempt at calling out Wesker kind of goes pear-shaped.
- Farewell to Creeper Island.
With most of the inhabitants gone, and Regene and Adachi GETTING THE FUCK OUT, Wesker blows up the island. Partly because he's a prissy little petulant bitch but also because Regene had total control of the island after the security revamp.
- And finally...
Wesker is now on the move around RE world. If we had some heroes, I'd have him hunting them down... as it is, he's laying low once again while plotting.
I... THINK THAT COVERS JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT IS PERTINENT TO ACTUAL CANON. Obviously there are very, VERY many more posts, related to viruses and whatnot but I've done my best to pick out the more relevant things. If anyone thinks I've missed something important, please let me know, especially if I've skimmed over stuff you think is important, I WAS GETTING FED UP OKAY.
