Garbage's Strange Little Birds is a fitting album to go along with Penny Dreadful, with its emphasis on messed-up love, screwed-up people, masochism, obsession, and being your own person, whoever that turns out to be. Trader Joe's Mango Mango Mochi (yes, the name has two mangoes) are amazing. It's mango sorbet with a center of mango jam in a mochi wrapper.

Rolling Stone has some good picks on its "100 Best Albums of the Nineties," though of course there are some artists and genres on it I don't listen to. Am I alone in thinking that Garbage's "Bleed Like Me" is like a less funky pale shadow of Lou Reed's "Take a Walk on the Wild Side"? Then again, I keep feeling that Trent Reznor's vocal delivery on the line "Are you hiding in the trees?" in "Right Where It Belongs" is kind of Pink Floyd-like.
