It's hard not to feel blessed when a hummingbird choses to dart mere feet away from you to drink precious nectar out of pots containing freshly blooming flowers. Their darting movements are as distinctive to me as their trumpeting roar when scaring away other hummingbirds. Oh, don't let these little guys fool you, they're fierce ( Read more... )

You remember that post a few weeks back about the hummingbird that freaked out when I was leaving my parents house.. I found her nest today. I wasn't even looking for it. Yesterday I visited my parents. This is not unusual except that as I walked out the front door to go home I was accosted by a rather persistent and squeaky hummingbird. She came out of nowhere, hovered just a couple of feet from my head, and sqeaked in a most irritated fashion for at least a full minute. I think she has a nest in my willow tree :) ( Read more... )

Does anyone here know what is making this noise in my backyard? The videos are from about a week ago.

You have to wait until the end of this video, but it's good and loud. It must have been right in the backyard.
