Here's the girl from the empty web I posted last night. I am forced to assume that the little translucent ones are either a) a different species of orb weaver, b) males of A. aurantia, or c) really young and malnourished compared to this girl! Last year I had a pair of writing spiders (Argiope of some sort), one outside the front door and one outside the back. Before she died off for the fall, Back Door Spider left an egg sac. I kept an eye on it and really hoped our weird winter and spring with warm weather and then sudden freezes hadn't killed the spiderlings, and then I was forced ( Read more... )
