A neighbor that I met on freecycle is moving and getting rid of a lot of materials.

I loaded up:

• enough bricks to line the bottom of the truck bed and then some (I plan to pave between the garden beds, but I might make a platform for a garden table to stand on) Some of them are old Mexican bricks! They all have a great patina.

I've been feeling better and I've gotten back on the wagon of gettin' stuff done!

I worked on the coop/garden shed this weekend. It's a (partially-rotting) plywood shed with a brick floor. I allocated a 2x6 section of the back for chickens, and the rest will be garden supplies.

Since I'm sorely missing my garden,I've been obsessing a little. I'll be updating this post as time goes on.

I probably will go with raised beds due to my back issues.

I like Patti Moreno's method of rotating "livestock" on the raised beds, but I wonder if the manure from the livestock is composted enough to kill any pathogens by the time you plant ( Read more... )

I found doors! I found eleven 24 inch doors with glass panels (I really needed 14). They need some work  - recaulking and cleaning. I might do some of that tonight if I get a second wind.

I'm trying to decide whether to paint them or not. They are off white, but I'd like white. If I'm going to paint them, I should do it before I put them up - it ( Read more... )

One of my projects for this year is to turn that scary tin shed into a greenhouse. I think it is scary because it is dark and full of wasps, and copperheads live underneath it (maybe).
