The tree we thought looked like a birch is a mulberry, of all things! (I think, anyway.) I wonder I can eat the berries, and I wonder if the horse will eat too many berries and give himself an upset stomach.

"Pasture"

I fertilized the south 1/3 of the pastures with Nature's Guide Natural Turf Food. I've never heard of this brand before, but it has poultry manure (pasturized), hummus, molasses, myrrohizol (??) fungus, and something else. It's a fast and slow acting, so it will help give a little jump start on that grass. From here on out, I hope to use ( Read more... )

Since I'm sorely missing my garden,I've been obsessing a little. I'll be updating this post as time goes on.

I probably will go with raised beds due to my back issues.

I like Patti Moreno's method of rotating "livestock" on the raised beds, but I wonder if the manure from the livestock is composted enough to kill any pathogens by the time you plant ( Read more... )

For some reason, I've never been able to grow kale. Of course, this spring I'll try again, but sheesh, I've tried for several years.

I found this recipe for Kale chips. I wonder what they taste like. I don't think anyone in my family would go for them, because it involves kale and they think that's weird.

I had to really watch the Mr. to make sure he didn't kill my little friend here. This spider lives next to my gate, although this morning he decided to make his web at the entrance, and I had to destroy his web to open the gate.
