This is clearly an earlier work than Cyteen, and Cherryh seems to have still been working out where she was going to go with the azi, which means that there are a few inconsistencies between the two. Even though I know that it's super geeky of me to think like this, it really is incredibly difficult to finally go through my library and really do a severe cull. It hurts.
