What does it mean when the gas needle alternates between being either above full or below empty regardless of how much gas you have?  I understand there is a little floaty thing in the tank that determines the needle.  Could it be anything more serious ( Read more... )

Lot of stuff happening.

I still can't believe I got the promotion last week, but now I'm council.  I'll have to be really geared up to get back into the politics of things.  This is a huge deal for me.  At the very least, I can now volunteer for the more mathy service positions rather than having to do some of the more event planny stuff.  I won't ( Read more... )

Got it.  Totally didn't expect it.  Still in shock.  My proposal somehow worked even though the committee had no mathematicians.  Time to go from planning how I'm going to deal with not being a granted a sabbatical,  to planning my sabbatical year.

I got to give a talk on teaching online courses today.  My goal was to make today a practice run for giving this talk at a big conference in Kentucky, but the only people who showed were my friends, so I don't know how a more critical audience would have received it.  Guess I have to use another factor to decide whether it's worth it to haul out to ( Read more... )
