I am up for promotion.  This means my worthiness is about to be judged by a 6 minute speech I'm giving to a group consisting only of non-mathematicians.  Unlike many other colleges, there is a (very limited) fixed number of promotions at my school and if the committee gives one to me, there will be one less for their own departments.  Thus, this ( Read more... )
