I was talking soap dispensers with a coworker. He complained that with all of the exhortation to wash hands, the company doesn't provide hand lotion dispensers everywhere. There's a new soap dispenser in the bathroom! That would normally be excitement enough, but this one has room for two bags of soap! There's no soap in it yet, so I might be celebrating prematurely, but I remain cautiously optimistic.

My complaint last week about the empty soap dispenser resulted in the building manager chastising the janitorial manager for not monitoring the soap level. I wrote back to both of them to say that extra vigilance isn't the problem, the single dispenser which can't be partially refilled is. At work, we used to have soap dispensers. For over a year now, we've had foam dispensers. The sticker on the front says "Reliable Luxury Foam". Sure, it feels like it cleans hands, but is it soap? ddmerillat and I tried a new restaurant tonight: Lone Star Wings. It's a little strange to eat wings in a restaurant with a Texan theme. The real reason to write, though, is the hand-washing station. While in a restaurant bathroom tonight, I noticed a sign above the sink: EMPLOYEES MUST WASH HANDS. I remarked to the waitress that I'd read the sign, but no employees were present, so I washed my own hands. Was that OK?
