At work, we used to have soap dispensers. For over a year now, we've had foam dispensers. The sticker on the front says "Reliable Luxury Foam". Sure, it feels like it cleans hands, but is it soap? While the move to foam didn't bother me much, there are fewer foam dispensers than there were liquid soap dispensers. The bathroom I use most was reduced to one dispenser. That's fine while it's full, but problematic when it runs out. Over last year's December lull, the dispenser ran out during a week when the janitorial staff was on vacation, so we had a bathroom with no foam for several days. We have
two-roll toilet paper dispensers, why not two foam dispensers? When March rolled around and the dispenser was running low again, I sent an email to our facilities manager. She promised to have a second dispenser installed. In July, the lone dispenser ran low again, so I pinged the facilities manager again. She assured me she'd look into it, but nothing happened. Seeing that the lone dispenser was running low, I sent another email in late October. I didn't hear back. Tonight, the dispenser ran out. Janitorial is long gone for the weekend. Nice. I'm going to throw a frickin' party if a second dispenser ever appears.
I recently discovered the hidden latch to open the foam dispensers. The bag in which the foam is distributed refers to the foam as "handwash".
Oh, and a few weeks ago we got a poster in our email advising everyone to wash their hands as a health and safety issue. The clip art? A bar of soap.
