Standing in front of the Del Monte Hotel waiting for my friend Sharron to pick me up for dinner last night, I noticed a small black bird (grackle? starling? something more sinister? The two days in Columbus sort of flew by fast.  The group I was teaching was as fun and lively as this client's employees always seem to be, so the days really flew.  Thursday afternoon I was feeling a bit tight in the chest (still not sure -- too much caffeine? or allergies? or both) so I napped a bit after class and ended up missing the group for ( Read more... )

So Friday night, I did go on a bit of a nature walk with some of my co-workers.  It wasn't a very long one because the temperature dropped quite a bit from Thursday, and none of us really wanted to be out walking in the cold wind that was coming across the open marshy "sod farm" area where we were.

My flight from St. Louis went fine -- I read several essays and then napped for the second half of the flight. Weather was beautiful when we landed in NJ so I started mentally making plans for the rest of the day (since I landed a bit after one pm).

Damn geese got in my way again.  Same spot as about a month ago, only this time there were only 5 and they were all adults.  They looked more offended than scared at my approach and took their sweet time getting off the road. I pay attention when I come around that particular bend; I'm sure a few geese are missing because people who travel that ( Read more... )

Seriously.  I'd have been a full half-hour early for work today if not for the illegal immigrants blocking the road as I came around a turn on Sawmill Road.  26 of them, crossing the road very slowly, herding some obvious younguns along with them along with those older children that look more adult.  They were not bothered at all by the cars ( Read more... )
