I went with the artsy icon because it seems to convey some storminess, and we're having our first snow of the year here in northwestern NJ today. Started a little while ago up here in Lafayette, with the possibility of sleet later on apparently.
I am one of those people who loves four seasons, but thinks they should occur in their proper time. It is still too early for winter here in NJ. Winter should come in November at the earliest. October is for chilled temps, yes, and ground frost after a cold night, and leaves changing and then blowing away in high winds ... November is for first snows and overcast skies and colder temps.
Last night a low-flying plane (either headed for a landing in Newark or having just taken off) was particularly high pitched and brought out the yowling of a coyote somewhere in the woods out back of the house. That in turn inspired a chorus of aggravating barking from the neighborhood domesticated canines -- you know that the neighborhood dogs all know there are coyotes in the area, but I believe they prefer not to be reminded. They did not sound happy at all.
