Well then, update time!

I'm done with my first Uni degree. If all goes to plan, in month at most (hopefully sooner!) I'll be a Bachelor of Arts (Humanististen tieteiden kandidaatti). Then onwards to the Master's degree... I finished a 12-page essay today on the Swedish East India Company and it's effect on the consumption of luxury goods in 18th century Sweden. As that brings to a close my most immediate causes of stress (obviously, I'll be buying a new apartment in three days, so not all causes of stress are cleared).

I sent out half a dozen (no, more than that) summerjob applications today. If I'm lucky I get a job at a libtary, in Korkeasaari (Helsinki Zoo) or a store selling shoes. If I'm unlucky, I'll get a job in a warehouse or as a gardener. Something's better than nothing, of course ( Read more... )

I quit yet another course halfway through this week. For fairly good reasons though... I've been extremely stressed recently (enough to sleep restlessly and only a few hours per night) due to having so many things to do (theoretically anyway). I felt like doing something creative for a change (after spending the entire day working on the two research outlines I mentioned before), so I dug out my sketchbook with the intention of starting to work on a character that will be featured on the next page I will be doing in 2020. It's the break-week between the first and second period at the Uni, so I'm finally finding the time to update (okay, silverstep being here for the most of last week also had an effect in my not having much time recently). I went and got my student status extended for my student card and travel card today. It's always a bit creepy, every time I do that I'm expecting for them to suddenly ask for a filled-out form in coloured paper that I have never heard of.
