I've just finished writing my pro seminar research. Huzzah! If any of the Finnish-speaking people are interested in (proof) reading it, comment and I can e-mail it to you.
In other news, Maria and I went looking at cars again yesterday. The actual checking out cars was of little consequence, but afterwards we visited the Prisma in Viikki, and they had a thingymahjiggy where you could check our body fat percentage for 2 €. And obviously I wanted to do it (Maria was slightly more against it). Somewhat worryingly it turned out my fat percentage is 28, which is extremely high - even dangerously so for a person of my age. It's possible that the result was slightly skewed by the fact that I was slightly dehydrated at the time, but even taking that into account I really need to lose more weight (or more to the point, fat). And in the end the result shouldn't have come as much of a surprise for me - I've been eating (& living) moderately healthily for the past two years. That isn't really enough to undo the damage caused by the previous 23 years of unhealthy living.
Actually what really bothers me is the fact that if I could have decided myself what to eat during the past two years I could have lost more weight than I have, but Maria kept (after the initial c. 6 months of very strict diet) insisting on foods that are not unhealthy as such but don't really help you lose weight either. And actually this test was a good thing as she now agrees we should go back on a stricter diet.
