I'm just posting a few pictures that hubby took at the recent nagashi some and suikawari. Our condo has a "children's event committee" which holds various events during the year. One of these events is nagashi somen/suikawari event. Somen is a thin noodle made with flour - like a very thin spaghetti. Japanese people eat this noodle cold,

Just a writing exercise - I thought maybe you might enjoy reading about a very important part of life in Japan. Baths. Of course the public or hot spring baths have their unique aspects but the regular modern bath in the home is just as interesting.
The first of the many summer festivals we will be going to this summer - Audrey was invited to the festival held yesterday at the day care she graduated from, so we got her yukata (summer kimono) out and dad took her while I finished off classes.

Audrey celebrated girl's day at hoikuen(daycare) today. They had a special sushi lunch and real live Japanese princess and prince (acted by teachers) came to visit

There is no country that I know of that is so into the seasons as Japan, and starrbeam alerted me to the various seasonal products out in the stores so I thought I'd get Audrey to model for some :P
Yesterday was Audrey's daycare artwork exhibit, and although I was unable to go because of my busy Saturday work schedule, hubby took Julian, Audrey and Grandma to the daycare center for a morning of looking at artwork.
Tomorrow is Valentines' Day! A Very Happy Valentines' to everyone who has dared to befriend me here. I love you all very much for bearing with me :D
