Audrey's Day Care Summer Festival 2014

Jul 13, 2014 13:01

The first of the many summer festivals we will be going to this summer - Audrey was invited to the festival held yesterday at the day care she graduated from, so we got her yukata (summer kimono) out and dad took her while I finished off classes.

All her friends, both from her graduating class and lower were there and they had a nice little reunion.

(The small girl next to Audrey is her best friend, Yuumi. Yuumi goes to the same school and after-school daycare as her.  The other girl on the left picture goes to a different school so they don't meet very often)

They first went to get their free tickets and then to the various booths for food and games. There was some ramen noodles, cotton candy, juice, games to win toys and water balloon fishing and goldfish fishing.

All pretty typical of all summer festivals in Japan - there was also obon dancing but the first graders stood on the sidelines talking while the little kids danced :P

I got there around an hour before it finished. They had some fireworks at the end and Audrey insisted that she had to have the cotton candy so, we lined up for an hour to get that. Hubby had come to get us but gave up after 30 minutes of waiting for cotton candy so Audrey and I walked home. OR, I walked and she ran home (after she finished her cotton candy :P) We met up with a friend on the way and went home together so it was fun. We got home at 8:30, after which we had our usual wine/dinner. I ended up falling asleep with Audrey.

It looks to be the start of a fun and eventful summer!
