Things are going really, really well with Greg (cue huge sigh of relief). So, I got a raise. I still only make about $300-350/wk at that job (plus ~$100 more per week between the Museum and babysitting), but it helps, plus I get back pay from July, when I was originally supposed to have received this raise (oops ( Read more... )

Today I went out to the backyard and practiced throwing my new "rabbit stick" that I fashioned at the first Hunting Guild last week. I hit the rabbit (aka, big log) only twice, but I did get in a lot of really powerful throws so I feel like I made progress. More practice will make even more progress ( Read more... )

I successfully directed a week-long UU camp for grade schoolers! It went fairly smoothly, actually. I used a pre-written curriculum, "Chalice Camp," but re-wrote a lot of it for our purposes, like brining in some PWC spirit and Shelter Neck flavor. All in all it was quite a good time...not sure I want to do it again, next year, but, we'll see ( Read more... )

The first ever (sort of) Shelter Neck Youth Camp was a complete success! I was so thrilled to be such a big part of it. I took a week off from PWC and spent it in Burgaw, NC, with a handful of other adult volunteers, two high school volunteers, and 17 campers ages 11-14. It was...amazing. I have a snake. His name is Jigsaw, a name he received during his 4-year tenure at PWC as an education animal. Gail recently decided that three corn snakes was too many, so she adopted out Jigsaw and Elaphe (a baby corn snake) and kept Kellogg.
