Last week, I finally joined the 21st century and got an iPhone. My mobile contract was up, and it seemed like a natural progression from the iPod Touch. I’d already considered some alternative smartphones like the XXX and the YYY, but niggling concerns about Mac compatibility and screen resolution singled out the one choice I could make.

My team has been cross-trained across the ULL DSL product at work, and today was the first day of taking calls. I'm a bit of a hands-on learner, so it was very important that I work today. So, after a saga spanning months, and armies of technicians, I heard a sound I never thought I’d hear again: my Google notifier telling me I had mail. I was just preparing to take divaflip to the doctor, when the ADSL started working. It feels awesome to be back online. So much has been on hold while we waited for this to come online.

Still trying to get ADSL active at the moment. I don’t think the saga bears repeating, but suffice it to say that iiNet has had four Telstra techs come out in the last couple weeks, and only one (who has come twice) has managed to make any progress (in this case by providing getting dialtone on the line). The Google Image Labeler is really fun. You are matched with a random partner, and have 90 seconds to label as many images as you can. You get points and move on to the next picture once you and your partner enter the same label.

Hmm. The dropped packet problem seems to have disappeared, but my line noise stats haven't improved. In fact, it would seem that I am now connecting at just over a third of the advertised speed ( Read more... )

Yay! My DSL woes are not in the Customer Premises Equipment problem. divaflip informed me that the techs are at the house, and have determined that the issue is near the "perimiter". Last I heard they're testing further up the road.
