Well, the sparky's come and gone. I have a new central filter installed. It was my last hope that I would be able to get decent ADSL speeds. After all, I am on an ADSL2 plan. Would it be too much to ask that I get at least the full ADSL1 sync at 8mbps?
The electrician was very sympathetic to my plight, but it looks like the filter ain't fixing the problem. Being a DSL tech support phone monkey, I know the problem could lie almost anywhere, and I've wasted enough time and money on getting it to work right. The electrician was even kind enough to run a quick lines test. Everything tests in spec, so there ain't much more we can do. I could get somebody to check the wiring in the house, but that's expensive and not a guaranteed fix.
I could take advantage of my employee discount and go on Optus cable. Very tempting, except then I have to think about moving to an OnNet area when we finally leave Pennant Hills. Which could be a pain. I guess I'll make that decision when we leave here. Besides, I've spent enough money this year on broadband equipment. I don't want to buy another wireless router any time soon.
