Back in January, I made a post about some resolutions of mine
here and since May is ending next week, I thought I'd do an update about them. (Wow, why is May ending next week already?)
My general goal of the year is read more books.
I haven't been keeping track of the exact numbers, but I clearly remembering finishing four books and I'm on my fifth one right now. Not epic or anything, but it's not bad? This is considering I only went to the library this year and that time, I only borrowed two books. The other two books I finished - one was lent to me and one I bought at Book Off because I couldn't resist Higashino Keigo and Book Off had an extra 20% off their prices during Golden Week when I was in Osaka... (As my librarian said to me though, Book Off isn't a place people should go during their vacation, lol.) The fifth book I'm reading is also lent to me, this time from another teacher! It's a thick book, so I'm taking my time with it. I have two more books waiting for me to read though, so it might be a while before I go to the library again. Either way, it's progress!
By the way, the books I have read: Sanshimai Tanteidan 6 Kikiippatsu Hen by Akagawa Jirou, Seirei Tantei by Kajio Shinji, Initiation Love by Inui Kurumi, and Galileo no Kuunou by Higashino Keigo. Currently reading Manatsu no Houteishiki by Higashino Keigo.
This is slightly going off topic, but I must profess my love for my school librarian. We're close in age, and while we don't see each other a lot because she spends most of the time in the library, we talk to each other every now and then, and of course, a lot of the times, we talk about books. Then after mentioning to me a few recommendations, she'd then bring the books (her own copies) and lend them to me! She knows me well and has been lending me mystery novels so far. I love her ;~; I love her lots ;~;
Now, for my fandom resolutions.
1. Write more meaningful posts.
Since the resolutions post in January, I have made more than several posts, and most of them are of translations and scans. I believe I can call them meaningful posts, as in there is plenty of contents to them. I also wrote a post comparing graduation ceremonies. I've been really quiet about my private life and work though, mainly because it feels like I have nothing interesting to share, but I'll try to fix that, even if they will be shorter posts. There must be something I can write about... As long as I can keep this up until the end of the year, I think I'm doing good with this resolution.
2. Translate 5 full interview articles.
This goal has been reached and by the end of March too!
The five articles I translated were:
Kis-My-Ft2 (Kitayama Hiromitsu x Fujigaya Taisuke) - Wink Up June 2011 Kis-My-Ft2 - Wink Up May 2011 Johnny's Juniors (B6) - Potato November 2012 Kis-My-Ft2 (Tamamori Yuuta x Fujigaya Taisuke) - Wink Up August 2011 Kis-My-Ft2 - Wink Up July 2011 Since then, I have also posted three more articles, which brings the total to 8. I already plan to post more for June already (for obvious reasons), so I will reach 10 very soon. With still a bit more than half a year left, I think I can push this goal up to 20 articles!
3. Be caught up with Kiss the Seven World.
I am caught up with this! I...just need to post them all. At least, until I check out the July issue of Myojo because Kiss the Seven World got a renewal and became KissBeat and at the moment, they no longer have the individual corners, so I had decided not to translate the June issue as I'd be mainly translating captions and that's...not as interesting to read without all the photos. I won't crop and upload them, so there'd be no point.
As an extra note, I'm also pretty much caught up with KisuTsuu except for the June issue, so that's not bad! I was definitely caught up for a month or two.
4. Be caught up with variety shows.
I'm making progress!
I'm caught up with: SMAP x SMAP, Shabekuri007, Mi ni Naru Toshokan, Ojamappu, Nino-san, Tensai! Shimura Doubutsuen, Arashi ni Shiyagare, School Kakumei, Shin Domoto Kyoudai, and Aiba Manabu.
I watch KisuMai Busaiku!? with my friend, so technically, I'd be caught up once we meet up (and we do so often), and for Moshimo Tours, I'm just missing May episodes? I think. Hyakushiki hasn't been uploaded lately, but otherwise, I have watched all that's available. I'm also just missing May episodes of Shounen Club because I want to watch them and update the charts at the same time, but haven't felt like it yet. I might wait until June episodes are out to do them all at once...
Currently, I'm working on VS Arashi and I managed to finish all the 2012 episodes \o/ I haven't watched since September, just in case you were wondering. >>;; Then, I'll have KisuHama Learning and Yan Yan JUMP remaining. I'm not sure when I'll get to those...
5. Scan magazines.
Considering all the progress I've been making with other things, this definitely made the least progress. I do have a little bit more scanned, and I just have to get to sharing them (as it is usually). Magazines just keep on piling up though and it's intimidating. I have all the magazine titles listed on paper though. I just need to start scratching them off the list. Eventually. I'm pretty sure I'll stick to tackling TV magazines for now. Check with me again in two, three months.
So overall, not bad! Now, it's just to keep it up, and get working on those stupid magazines.
