I got word on Thursday evening that someone I saw at Sunday morning davening (masked, everyone vaccinated) had just tested positive for COVID. I passed word immediately to work, and in the morning got a test. My friends were supposed to get married last Halloween, but cancelled because of, you know. Instead the wedding was this past weekend, at a retreat center in the Adirondacks with everyone present verified as vaccinated. There were about a hundred people and for nearly all of us it was our largest gathering in nearly two years, and it was so nice ( Read more... )

I've had an annoying allergy thing this whole past week, the kind of thing that often hits me in the summer, though usually not this late in the summer. Itchy eyes, runny nose, scratchy throat, an overall unpleasant time. I got my second vaccine shot on Wednesday afternoon. By the evening I had a fever and a bad headache and brainfuzz. All of that lasted all of yesterday, it was a pretty miserable day, but today I'm feeling a lot better. At least it means I know it did something to my immune system! I got my first vaccine shot yesterday, of the Moderna vaccine! Everything went straightforwardly. My arm is a bit sore today but otherwise I'm fine. The one annoyance is that they were set up to automatically schedule you for an appointment exactly four weeks later, which happens to be second day Shavuos. A co-worker I work closely with found out last night that he hung out on Sunday with someone who has since tested positive for COVID. Apparently they were watching a NASCAR race.
