From a young Ghanan cow-orker, at yesterday's company picnic, when a soccer game was breaking out and I was throwing myself into the middle of it:

"Okay, lessee. We'll put all the Africans on one side, with the Europeans and the Asians. And on the other side, we'll have...um, Scooterbird."

As a footnote: ow. I'm sore.

Me: My voice is almost entirely back; still a bit rocky, still a bit of a cough. Everything seems to be draining out now rather than down, which is kind of inconvenient and ick, but preferable to the reverse.

An unusual day. My DW looked to have been getting what I had, but seems to have recovered quickly; in the meantime, my voice is almost all the way back, though I still have coughing jags which are difficult to deal with, particularly last night, which meant a rotten night's sleep. I ended up helping ref crazieabby's soccer game today, when the center ref needed the assistance on the sidelines. I appreciate my expertise being brought into play, but I didn't feel as comfortable cheering for her on the breakaway. It was a bit difficult, keeping my mouth shut. An unusually academic day. Was at Ecumenicon today, where I took a class on Gnosticism and got notes for classes in pastoral counseling.
