Funny thing - ever since Baggalútur's Það koma vonandi jól came out, I've been wondering about part of the lyrics, and now I think I finally understood them.

Context - this song is Baggalútur's 2008 christmas song, and it's a satirical spoof of the events that led up to and the aftermath of the financial crisis at the time. It is a christmas ( Read more... )

I recently looked at Kanadische Erzählungen, a book of Canadian Tales, and wasn't entirely surprised to find something Icelandic in it (Canada has seen some immigration from Iceland, particularly in Manitoba, and there particularly in Gimli).
