Japanese Madonnas. Madonna as in Mary, not the entertainer.

Usually when Christian imagery shows up in Japanese works they don't have any real meaning and are there solely to look cool and exotic, (the same way Western culture often treats Eastern religions). These, however, were painted by an anonymous Japanese Carmelite Nun in Tokyo.

Topic 1: The first chapter of Rumiko Takahashi's new manga, Rin-ne, is now available for reading. It's being simultaneously released in Shonen Jump in Japan and on the new Viz Rumic World website here in the States. This is the first time something like this has ever been attempted (legally), so it'll be interesting to see how it progresses.
