sorry i didn't use an lj cut, here are the first three in the series. i repainted the background to give it a softer feel, still slightly abstract but not as boxy. quilts are about 4 by 5ish background canvas is 8 by 10.

in relation to friday's post, i have made a few more blocks. not nearly as many as i had hoped but i think i need some more colours to cut cause none of the ones i have left are matching or not matching nicely with eachother. so might need some more. also realized that if i want to sew these babies block on block and have a queen sized quilt with a ( Read more... )

here is today's project. might be longer than a day project. since these little blocks are 3.5 inches so will end up 3 inches after the 1/4 inch seam sewing them together. i want to make a big ol' quilt with my scrappies

colours are a bit wonky. its not so crazy blueish looking :)

so i took some pics and played around in fireworks and i have a digital version of the quilt. i was originally worried that the fabric choice would end up rainbow and very juvenile but i think its ok. there will be log cabin style borders around each dress block so that will kid it up a bit i think. or i could choose not to do that. or just select ( Read more... )

as predicted my mom loved her wallhanging that i posted yesterday. she showed it at our quilt guild meeting and we won a prize. a spool of hand dyed thread that is in bright colours :) (what happens is everyone who shows something gets a ticket and then they pic from them for the winner of the prize) she gave me the thread :)

here's my progress report on the hexagon quilt. its pretty fun although time consuming. i wish i didn't have to go back to school. all i wanna do is sew sew sew :) at least i'm off for 2 days as of 9pm tonight. yay sewing :) and ahem...perhaps some reading for classes :P

i started thinking about how my grandmother and great grandmother would have used quilting. and how they would use little scraps of what they had like old clothes and stuff like that to make big quilts to keep their families warm. so in the spirit of that i started making a hexagon quilt that is a very traditional pattern as well as completely ( Read more... )
