i started thinking about how my grandmother and great grandmother would have used quilting. and how they would use little scraps of what they had like old clothes and stuff like that to make big quilts to keep their families warm. so in the spirit of that i started making a hexagon quilt that is a very traditional pattern as well as completely handsewn and when i finish it i plan on hand quilting it too in keeping the tradition. also i am going to try and use as many scraps as i can from the ones i have stashed away in little colour sorted bags. what a wonderful way to reuse and its fun to use the little bits of the fabrics i love to sort of immortalize them.. k now that you think i'm a nut job..here's the pic of the work in progress (very beginning stages) i will keep up the pattern i started using groupings of three colours.

just noticed that i took the picture a little off -meaning the paper isn't the same direction as the sewn blocks. but yeah i'm sure you get the idea.

on another note i've had all my classes and although i have no clue whats going on in any of them :P i just might be a good semester. cept for the fact that i have no art classes..i miss you carrie :) we'll have to hang out more :)
