 My friend Heidi e-mailed me about a conversation she had with her son, Lucas. She said: "He was so funny. He got all sad because suddenly he realized that he might not have his favorite plane forever. I had to tell him that when people are grown-ups, they have other things. Apples to Apples is probably our niece Hallie's favorite game. When we visited her family in Oregon awhile ago I made the end of the game more fun by saying that the adjectives on the Green cards that each player had won could be used as comments on their personality.  While Seattle broiled, we were backpacking along an Olympic Peninsula river, camping in a high meadow. A wonderful good-humored weekend, and traveling with our friends reminded me of the verbal coup that had been scored in their family a couple months earlier during the World Cup.

Lisa and I had our 13th anniversary a couple weeks ago during our trip to Mexico.
