About a month ago my Chaya kitty had to have a tooth pulled. She had been feeling very poorly for the week or two prior to having it pulled. She didn't want to eat. She hid in the closet. In the last post I wrote, I said that Inky is not an affectionate cat and that she doesn't like to sleep with me. Well, I was wrong. When I adopted Inky she was very affectionate. She would do her usual kitten thing of dashing at high speed all over the place, but when she wanted to rest she would seek out my lap. The verdict is in and Calli is indeed in the early stages of kidney disease. Fortunately, it is early stages. Unfortunately, since my finances were so tied up with taking care of Rosebud in the summer, I didn't get Calli a urine test when she stopped eating for a couple of days during the summer. Last week I took both Inky and Calli to the vet. I made sure to schedule them for when the nice vet was working. (There are two vets in the clinic we use, and one of them is the one who tried to convince me to spend $3,000 to have Rosebud's teeth removed when it turned out she had cancer and removing her teeth would not have done her any good.) While I can never replace Rosie, of course, I decided to adopt a kitten.
