This week, as I was transferring some HDV video for a project, I noticed something interesting about the size and shape of the MiniDV tape cases. They turn out to be roughly the width of an Apple iPod Touch. This means that if you flip out the J-card tray you can set an iPod Touch or iPhone onto an empty case and you have a little stand:

From March of 1941 to today, a single NTSC receiver based television would be able to faithfully show you what was on television every day of every year. For many weeks I've been working on a strange project. We have many windows around the house which show views of wooden walls just a few feet from the window. When we moved in I decided to create a false view out of some of these windows to improve the look of these rooms. I've long been a fan of 3D processes. I spent much of my grade-school playing with a set of red/blue glasses from a Sunday drive-in movie. It took a while to find just the right Crayola markers to draw my own 3D posters. (The orange and the sky blue from the pastels set did the trick). My home has been a test lab for HDTV solutions for several years now. I'm sort of becoming the visual equivalent of an audiophile. I get horrified when my TV fails to fully filter out every interlacing filed from live shows. I own more hardware than I really should.
