I just wanted to let my flist know of a concert that's happening tomorrow.

Tomorrow my choir, Gloriana, is performing live on ABC Classic FM (105.9 in Melbourne) at 3pm, as the Sunday Live program. This is a huge deal for us, performing live to our largest audience ever. We've been broadcast before, but always a pre-recorded concert ( Read more... )

So, we had our concert yesterday. The summary in the words of one wise alto was: "The first half was magic, the second half was good". Yup, totally magic.

First was Media Vitae by Sheppard - this is early music, and in my view goes on a bit. Not my fave, but was appreciated by those in the audience.

I've just got home from Gloriana rehearsal tonight, and it was so invigorating and energising I had to talk about it. I've not had a rehearsal like this for a long time, one where it really clicked and we really got it. Up to this point this year the music has been... yeah, interesting, but not... it.
