I can't believe it's only the second week of December! It feels like we should be further along than this, but maybe that's just because the season has already been so unbelievably busy. So here's a quick status update:
Sometimes I wonder why I go to these things. Ruth used to ask herself the same question years ago. I think I've come to the conclusion that if we didn't go, nobody would ever tell us anything, but that's pretty much it. And even if they do inform us of what's going on, it's not likely we'll get any say in the matter. Which brings me to the

Chris Muetz's funeral at 11:00am. We got there shortly after 10:00am, which gave us time to visit and to pay our final respects before the service started. They definitely needed more seating, although I'm not sure where they would have put any more chairs; it was SRO around the edges of the room.
Carl and I had to work some major overtime for our day jobs for the majority of December. As a result, all of the usual preparations for Christmas got put aside until the absolute last minute. We bought our tree - an artificial tree, but with fairly realistic foliage at the ends of the branches and a nice tall

This morning was the annual Breakfast With Santa gig with the Recorder Ensemble. They all wore their new green shirts with their red and white Santa hats and played beautifully. The gasps of amazement after they finished playing "Gaudete!" was well worth having to get up at such an early hour on a Saturday. I even had a couple of inquiries
