I am a frugal knitter/crocheter.  I prefer making scarves and afghans from scrap yarn found at yard sales.  Fellow knitters think I am nuts but I do get a lot of compliments on my finished project.

Are there any frugal crafters out there?  I would love to hear adventures.

I am looking to get some free fonts from a site that will not infect my computer with crap.  I am looking for a few specific styles for an image project I am working on (a melty 70s font, for one), so the ability to browse thumbnails easily without having to download or click and click through many pages would be very useful.

Quick tip- head down to your local fine furniture store once a month for their fabric sample discards. They can be used to make purses, wallets, tissue box covers, crazy quilts, framed for wall prints, book covers, etc. All you have to do is ask and the sales mgr is usually willing to hand them out freely.

I bought two pairs of shoes on sale: clogs and heeled flip flops. I thought I got a terrific buy (75% off!) but there is only one problem. They both have hard, plastic soles and I've discovered that they are **extremely** slippery - at least indoors. It's too late to return them ( Read more... )
