For the first time in ages (over a year! :o ) I have been doing some more genealogical research - back to looking at Stewarts (my father's father's father's people). After Christmas we did our annual trip round the country to visit family. Since getting the car we've done it as a three-point trip, home -> one place -> other place & back home to minimise the travel time, but that does make it feel a little like we're always just about to get in the car & go somewhere! I got an email from my father yesterday telling me that Gill, my brother's godmother, had died yesterday morning, which was sad news. I think the most recent picture I have of her is here, talking to Alan (my brother's godfather, who passed away earlier this year) at my wedding, and I wish we'd taken a photo or two when we saw her last Christmas ( Read more... )

In many ways Sunday was a repeat of Saturday - nice to have a totally free & lazy weekend after the last few weeks, so we decided against leaving the house :) So, started off with some Lego Rock Band. Spent a chunk of yesterday looking through the 1901/1891 censuses for the street & house my parents live in - Dad had seen a picture (in a small exhibition of local photos) labelled as the family that moved into the house in 1901. Which makes the house a little older than we'd assumed, so I was looking to see if I could find it in the census data ( Read more... )

This week has just flown by - there don't seem to've been quite enough hours gone by to have got us from getting home on Monday night to Saturday morning.
