We had a quiet Easter brunch at home yesterday, just the three of us, and a whole lot of food. I made a baked egg dish, similar to a tortilla espanola, scones, fruit salad, colored Easter eggs, and a braided Italian Easter Bread.
I just finished making a batch of Easter Eggs, using a technique I hadn't tried before. Onion skins and purple cabbage impart vibrant orange and blue shades, and flowers and leaves I picked in my own yard make interesting stencils! This is what they look like finished:
It's the first day of spring break, and I've been making Ukrainian Easter eggs (pysanky) with my son. Well, actually, being seven years old, he colored one egg and then got bored and wandered off to play. But I'm still working on them.
