Today started out pretty well. I got up early enough [8:45] to get dressed and ready for class, then get breakfast before hurrying off to Chinese History. I missed the map quiz last week, so I need to make that up, and we've got a 4-6 page essay on "the greatest threat to China in the 19th century" due next Friday ( Read more... )

College. It sounds like fun, but then you get there and start your classes and it STEALS YOUR LIFE AWAY. Then you go home for a month for Winter Holiday, miss it badly, come back, start a new term, and it STEALS YOUR LIFE AWAY AGAIN.

 Today, I'm going with most of my Japanese Aesthetics seminar, the Japanese professors here at school, and various other students, to Seattle. We're going to the Japanese Botanical Gardens up there (I've been there before, and they're just lovely), but my seminar is lucky and gets to go to a Tea Ceremony as well. So I'm excited for that.

Today, I decided something around dinner time.
I decided to go vegetarian. Not permanently, but for just a bit. I'm testing myself with just a week, and we'll see where that leads.

Today was my first day of class.
Chinese 101 was harder than I expected, mostly because my pronunciation and mannerisms have been heavily influenced by my Japanese studies. I now know not to bow when saying "nihao".
