Sometimes. Sometimes.

There are days, and there are days.
Today started out pretty well. I got up early enough [8:45] to get dressed and ready for class, then get breakfast before hurrying off to Chinese History. I missed the map quiz last week, so I need to make that up, and we've got a 4-6 page essay on "the greatest threat to China in the 19th century" due next Friday. Yeah, that's going to be fun, but eh. The class went well, and I even managed to speak up during the lecture to express my opinions on whether the Taiping rebellion was a civil war, revolution, rebellion, or what. For the record, I said it was partly a civil war and partly a revolution.
Japanese... Ugh. Don't get me started. I missed the test on Friday, so I need to make that up soon, but on top of that, we had a quiz today on the new verbs we were supposed to have memorized. I bombed it completely, and I have another quiz tomorrow morning on the nouns and extra vocabulary for the chapter. That's easy enough, but dammit, I need to remember these quizzes better. Studying in the five minutes before class does NOT work [like it did last semester, which it did, oddly]. It also doesn't help that we got new partners today, and I got paired with Craig, who, unlike me, is loud, boisterous, and well-liked by everyone, including Tyson-sensei. I wish I had a better partner, like Elle or Toni, but no, I got Craig, after getting Stacy, Adam, and Chatt before. I don't know why Tyson-sensei's being so cruel about my partners this semester, but I demand being partners with Elle at least once before she leaves for Japan at the end of March.
Rhetoric was pretty good. We were supposed to spend the whole hour using our laptops and copies of Kandinsky's "Concerning the Spiritual in Art" to add more detail to what we'd written up on Kandinsky's thoughts and theories regarding colour, but.. well, most of us just did nothing and acted productive. I have another eight colours to add detail to, plus our study guide on the Book of Revelations in Kandinsky's art. I swear, if Professor Hooper would stop bringing up religion and theological doctrine in class, I'd be much happier.
Lunch was fine. Sat with Lev, Cupcake-Nathan, and some other guy, ate my cheeseburger and started on kicking Lance's ass for the umpteenth time on my HeartGold game, something that I'd been trying to accomplish since last night. Finally beat him after I was back in my room getting ready for Chinese.
Talking of which...
Thank goodness Sun-laoshi's forgiving and is letting me take a make-up test on Wednesday afternoon, since there was no way in seventeen hells that I would have passed if I'd taken it today. I didn't know any of the new vocabulary, which I suppose is starting to make me a bad student. Must work harder!
Work was good. I'm working in the Stars Room [preschoolers] this week, or until Cathy gets back; her sister died last week, so I'm her temporary replacement in the meantime. The kids are sweet, and pretty easy to deal with, and I got quite a few hugs. One of the girls, O'Marianna, kept wanting to play with my hair, since I was wearing it down today, without even a hat on [something that, apparently, makes me look quite nice, according to Elle], so I felt pretty nice.
And, after work? Well, I've pretty much spaced out. Can't think of a single thing to do or think or say. Read K-ON! for a bit, played Ouendan for almost two hours...
I kind of want to go for a walk. Maybe to the Met or some place. I need to do stuff outside of my room. Maybe I'll pop down to the cafe and get a drink? Or go draw in the moonlight. It's been pretty clear and warm up here lately, but the nights are icy clear.
