I Call It CUNT! I've Reclaimed It.

The Vagina Monologues went well this week. Stephanie, who was one of the girls in the "My Vagina Was My Village" piece, had to go home because she had step throat and mono, so Emily, one of our directors, filled in for her part.
Friday was opening night, and it went beautifully. No goofed lines, and anything that was dropped was unnoticeable. It was also my first time on stage, and I was frightened beyond belief, since the crowd that night was HUGE. But my group's part, "If Your Vagina Got Dressed, What Would It Wear?", went perfectly, and no one forgot any lines. We all whistled when Jay took off her suit jacket on the line, "Lace and combat boots," and threw the jacket into the seated girls behind us [our fellow actresses]. And, jeez, she looked gorgeous with that purple and black lace camisole on. I was a bit jealous.
Saturday went exceptionally well, possibly because there were more people that night and, more importantly, we were all looking forward to the Cast Party after the show.
The cast, by the way, is all female. It's a rule.
Anyway, there were a couple minor goofs, but it went off wonderfully otherwise. There was some laughter from the audience at a couple of my lines, which made me happy, and the usual laughter at Lana and Emily's number ["My Angry Vagina"] and plenty at "Cunt", where we all loudly chant "CUNT!" at the end of it. As usual, the last two monologues of the evening, "Say It" and this year's Spotlight monologue, made me nearly cry. One of the girls in "Say It", Holly, starts crying at the end of her monologue every time. It's a pretty emotional one, though, on the comfort women in World War II Japan.
Anyway, the show finished, and Caitlin, who was there, gave me a rose in a bouquet; it's currently in a vase in my room, and by "vase", I mean "an old, perfectly clean pickle jar". Piper and some of his friends [who I also know] came, too, and Piper gave me a huge bear hug, because he knows how hard it is for me to get on stage. But apparently, I project quite nicely. Never thought I had a problem with volume.
Then came the Cast Party. It was at Amy and Savannah's house, which has the apt nickname "The Naked House", about 13 blocks from school [thus deterring many freshmen and uninvited guests], and it was ABC [Anything But Clothes] themed. So I wore a towel wrapped around myself and secured to my underwear and bra by a huge number of bobby pins, and set off.
It was actually kind of fun, the party. I've never been to a party before, but all the girls [or most of them, anyway] from the show were there, and they let me have alcohol. I had some mixed drink called a "Pink Panty Dropper": pink lemonade, beer, and vodka. It was actually quite tasty, and I had a cup of it; that was all I drank actually, and I didn't get drunk. GO ME.
There was a lot of dancing, and, quite frankly, many of us actually ended up less dressed than we came. I kissed Jay on the cheek, but she didn't notice much. It was kinda sad.
ANYWAY, AFTER THE PARTY, we had the show on Sunday. One of the Emcees got pretty drunk at the party, I guess, and couldn't make it to the show, so her co-emcee filled in for her, but had to read the parts that weren't originally hers off of note cards. There were more accidents in the lines than usual; Holly said half of a line earlier than she should have, then corrected herself midway through, and Chloe left out a portion of the Spotlight monologue, but it was otherwise good.
Then we cleaned up our makeshift dressing room [a classroom in the music department, since it's close to the concert hall where we were performing], and a group of us, Jay, Lana, Amy, Cait [our other director], Olivia, and myself, all took the chairs we'd used on the stage back to McIntyre. That was kind of fun, in its own way. After we got back, I told Jay that I liked her and, well, she said that she appreciated me telling her, but she was "already involved". That was a bit sad for me, but I'm okay with it. It was a jumping off point of sorts.
ANYWAY
I'm going to eat food now.
