Through carelessness of someone other than me's part, Zoe got a hold of Oscar's insulin bottle this morning and broke it. So, off we went to the vet again since she'd certainly swallowed some of it, and also to check a suspicious looking sore on her hind leg. We had quite an adventure with Miss Z Saturday night. She got hold of a plastic bottle of aspirin around 10 pm and we made the wild dash to the veterinary ER to get her stomach cleaned out. They gave her ipacac and charcoal, which proved to be a tragic combination for our car upholstery, my feet, various patches of carpet around the house ( Read more... )

Zoe was spayed today and came home wearing what Doug refers to as "the cone of shame." She's still pretty glassy eyed. When she tried to walk around and catches her cone on a piece of furniture or doorway, she just stands there until I free and guide her. Poor baby!

Zoe's first around-the-block leash walk. Can't say it was a relaxing stroll, but she did fairly well. Spooked a little by passing cars, bicycles, and other dogs, but not Jackson-bad. She's already strong.

I appreciate the thought, and marvel at your knowledge of my love of sushi, but the dead, de-shelled garden snails are not nice to step on unexpectedly.

Zoe had her final round of shots yesterday and was cleared by the vet to go to Huntington Dog Beach with us for a Father's Day event. She loved it and stayed with the pack quite well! She also greeted other dogs and their owners very nicely. She's turning out to be a friendly little thing. Very pleased.

Apparently Skit was not happy with my attention to her children, because she abruptly moved them deeper into the labyrinth that is our overpacked garage. However, the kittens are determined to socialize and come out of their hidden lair to visit, so the socializing continues ( Read more... )
